Here are a few things that have been cluttering my brain in recent days…
- We closed the deal on our Greenville campus location this week. Folks said we’d never get that location. Guess God had other plans.
- The ACLU is trying to stop Coach Bowden’s practice of inviting football players to participate in an annual church visit (most recently to NewSpring) even though players are allowed to voluntarily opt out. Go figure. We have a football coach who understands the importance of spiritual development in addition to athletic success, and he’s being attacked for it. I hope Clemson stands their ground.
- Ever searched an address in Google Maps and found that the marker wasn’t in the right location? Now you can fix it.
- Just talked with the editor of Outreach magazine. They’re putting the finishing touches on the January issue that includes this year’s list of the Top 25 most innovative churches. I’ll share more details in the coming days, but there are certainly some surprises.
- I’m the proud owner of a new Xbox 360.
- Oh, and I’ve had a few people ask about details regarding the DirecTV package that’s saving me about $30 per month and getting me about six times more HD channels than cable. If you’re interested, I can shoot you something that’ll save you a little bit more. Just email me.

Cool – can we use your parking lot for overflow?
Greenville campus – AMAZING! This has had me excited all week long. Talk about slapping the devil in the face! That’s how God rolls!
Map Fix – great new feature; even better video.
Xbox 360 – I want one.
Tony, with all due respect I have to disagree with you on the ACLU’s stance in regard to Coach Bowden “strongly encouraging” his players to attend an annual church service. I respect and admire Bowden for his willingness to make his faith public and out front, but that is a lot of pressure to put on a young man. Many will go because they feel they have to in order to stay in good stead with their coach.
I would like for him to post a sign up sheet and tell his players that if anyone wants to go they are welcome. His way involves coercion to a degree. That can produce resentment.
