Perry Strips During Message
Today was an unusual day at NewSpring. Here are some of the highlights…
- Perry wore a suit. It’s the first (and I’m hoping last time) I’ve seen Perry in a suit.
- All the guys on staff also wore suits. That means I had to pull my one black suit out of the depths of my closest and put it on for the first time in years. The suit still fit. My neck has grown though. I no longer have a 14 1/2 neck size. That’s probably a good thing.
- Perry stripped during his message. (Be glad I don’t have pictures.) If you weren’t here, you’ll have to view it for yourself. Actually, I strongly recommend you check out the message if you weren’t at NewSpring today. The video will be available later this week. One of the best messages I’ve ever heard.
- RoseAngela may be the only vocalist other than Mariah Carey who can pull off a Mariah Carey song…and there have been instances when Mariah Carey couldn’t even pull it off.
- We announced the free tickets for Christmas services on December 23/24. I used the NewSpring website to get my tickets online. Believe me, you’ll want to be here for one of those six identical services. It’s going to be off the charts.
- Finally, if you’re interested, we had close to 7,700 people at the services this weekend. That’s an over 1,100 jump (17.5%) from the same weekend last year. Amazing! I’m glad the Greenville campus and the expanded facilities at the Anderson campus are right around the corner.

Hi Tony I have a few questions regarding your upcoming Christmas Service:
What are your thoughts on charging individuals that would like to come and view your Christmas service?
Was NewSpring going to charge for tickets? If so, what made the church decide not to?
Why are tickets necessary?
How many Christmas services are you holding?
BV, the tickets for our Christmas services are free. No, we never had plans to charge for people to attend these services. We’re using the tickets to make sure we have seats for everyone who wants to attend a service.
We’re doing six identical services–our four regular service times on Sunday, December 23 and two services on Monday, December 24. Folks at NewSpring are using tickets for themselves and to invite their friends and family. If we start to run low on tickets, then we know we need to add another service.
Basically, we’re just trying to make sure as many people as possible have the opportunity to celebrate, worship and hear the Gospel message on Christmas weekend. I’ve been involved in the planning for that service. It’s going to be absolutely amazing! I can’t wait!

Tony…seeing all the staff in suits and dressed up was awesome…. it was VERY obvious who is on staff and who isn’t. I felt rather under dressed for the first time!
Great idea for the tickets…how else do you plan???
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the sermon. I have heard so many GREAT ones in the past 14 months…but that one was the best. I’m sure it brought new meaning to the ending song for many.
As always, you guys all rock!!!
