Great stuff, Tony. Thanks for that perspective and reminder. And since everyone is also commenting on what is not the point of your post, I’ll just say I can take or leave ND.

But this wasn’t about football. If it was, we’d pull some example from Romo’s Cowboys.

I do hope this bit of insight is a forerunner of the 2008 season, haha.

I’ve always been a fan of critical extremes. If it (whatever it may be) is loved and hated, positive and negative, then it is doing it’s job.

I’m one that believes this “zone of mediocrity” you mention can easily be referred to as the “green mile.”

Few people remember mediocrity, let alone desire to live in it.

I too am a Notre Dame, but a fan of Charlie Weis. That’s not my point.

This post reminds me of the opening of the Andy Stanley/Reggie Joiner podcast thing they did… think it was called “Thinking Strategically” or something like that.

When you win, good things happen. People love to win and will chase a winner to the ends of the earth. Winning (however you frame that in your context) means that the pressure is off and actually makes it easier to win some more.
