McDonald’s Condiment Tax

Pic0343
As a connoisseur of condiments, this sign caught my attention. It’s from a McDonald’s drive-thru window. I guess it surprised me that McDonald’s would choose to use this valuable piece of real estate to tell me I have to pay for my condiments.

It makes me wonder, though, how many packets of ketchup (or is it catsup?) can one ask for at McDonald’s before they begin enforcing the condiment tax? Is it two packets? Four packets? More?

Let’s start a little contest to see how many free packets of ketchup you can request at McDonald’s before they charge you for it. Send me pictures of the evidence. I will buy a McDonald’s meal for the person who gets the most free ketchup. (Bonus points will be applied to pictures that include friendly McDonald’s employees.)

    Wow Tony.

I wish you could have started this contest a few months ago.

Although it wasn’t ketchup, my 5th (ever-so-kind) request for
an additional barbecue sauce was welcomed at the tune of 25 cents.

At first I was shocked – until when leaving to get back into my car,
I noticed I was parked in their drive-thru parking space.

    Yes. A Drive-Thru Parking Space.

I guess down here in Atlanta, there are some McDonald’s units
that actually prepare in advance to be slow.

I have the picture to prove it.

I get working on the ketchup theory a.s.a.p.
    I’m guessing seven!!

Whenever I order Chinese takeout, they give me a fistful — or two — of duck sauce, and soy sauce, and other little plastic packets of exotic condiments. Since I prefer my Chinese straight up, I toss them all into a shopping bag, and when it’s full I take it back to the restaurant! They always seem to appreciate the gesture!

I find it’s best to ask the person as they are about to walk away from putting all of your food on your tray. It’s basically a play on people’s laziness realizing they don’t want to ring you up as much as you have no intention of paying 25 cents for something we feel entitled to. If managers are around you will probably end up having to pay for it though.

I have a friend that will pay cash for his meal and if they make him pay for his condiments he pulls out his card. that’s his way of sticking it to the man.

This is hilarious. I’m a condiment and dipping sauce connoisseur myself… so I truly appreciate this post! LoL.

    Tony,
Just one more reason to eat at Chik-Fil-A. Recently I asked for 1 ketchup packet and the girl at the drive-thru gave me 9 packets! (you read that right, 9) I’ll admit it was overkill, but I did feel special. And she didn’t charge me a thing.

My wife is a sauce-a-holic. I always ask her if she wants fries with her ketchup…

She always asks for extra BBQ sauce with her Chicken McNuggets. McDonald’s gives you 2 packets with a six piece and 3 packets with a 10 piece. Anything extra is 25 cents.

As I pulled through the McD’s drive through tonight I almost forgot about this challenge. At the last second I threw in a “can we get some extra ketchup please” and scored……TWELVE PACKETS!!!!!! No charge. Ooooh shoooooot. Next time I’m going for more. :-)

I went thru the drive and asked for more sauce on the big—–
Upon checking the sandwich at home there was no extra sauce.
I said to myself , ” my fault ” (should not have used the out-side service . When cleaning up the mess I saw the bill . There is was above the price of the big—- .25 . The neat thing is that I also paid tax on the .25 .
    I was not informed .
The office of the franchise said that is the way it is .
Yes it is . One less customer and something new for me to start a conversation. You will not ——-.
P.S. I wonder if they are sliding in the world economy .
