Debunking Dulcimer Delusions
OK, first of all, the rumor is not true. Contrary to what folks have been suggesting, that wasn’t me playing the dulcimer yesterday. The dulcimerist or dulcimerizer or whatever you call a person who plays the dulcimer was Stephen Humphries.
Unbeknownst to me, though, Lee confirmed that we were hearing from the 2007 National Hammered Dulcimer Champion. What would you guess? There must me millions of hammered dulcimerizers in the country, and we were listening to the very best one. No one in the country was judged to swing a dulcimer hammer better than Stephen.
With that, don’t ever second guess our commitment to excellence at NewSpring. When a song calls for the dulcimer, we go straight to the top.
The dulcimer was absolutely BEAUTIFUL in worship last week!! It added so much to that selection. We have a hand-made dulcimer in our family and I had the chance to chat about the instrument with Stephen for a few minutes. Not only can he rock the dulcimer, he’s a really nice guy! Imagine that!
