Dragons, Beer Commericials and Free Throws

Dragon There’s so much happening. Where do I begin?

  • Michael from Forest Pointe Church near Charlotte emailed me this morning. Take a look at this picture. He received a message from Amazon that says, "We noticed that customers who have purchased books by Tony Morgan have also purchased Denton the Dragon and the Tale of Tear River." Does this say more about my writing or the people who are reading my books?
  • I’m heading to Phoenix with Joshua later today. We’re attending the Church Solutions Conference. Tomorrow I’m going to confess the stupidest leadership mistakes I’ve made.
  • Tomorrow, I also get to have lunch with Tim. Among other things, I plan to tell him how much I enjoyed reading the manuscript of his new book, Pop Goes the Church. If I do that, maybe he’ll buy my lunch.
  • Lindsay gave me the update on Unleash registrations this morning. All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE! I’ll share a full update later this week after we get past the early bird deadline…which is tomorrow.
  • I normally don’t share stuff like this, but this video really made me laugh. Why do beer companies make the best commercials?
  • One of the things I enjoy about living in the South is being able to play outside with my kids after dinner. Last night we flipped on the garage light, and Jacob and I headed out to the driveway to shoot some baskets. I thought I’d display my superb athletic prowess by seeing how many free throws I could make in a row. I got to 11…which I thought was pretty impressive for an old guy. Then Jacob proceeded to make 16 consecutive free throws. He’s only 10. You try to make 16 free throws in a row. I bet you can’t do it.
  • As soon as I get to Phoenix, I’m turning on the election coverage. I’ve been sucked in. I’m a political junkie, and I’m thoroughly enjoying this primary season. There was a day in my life that I thought I wanted to be politics. Then I worked in government for about 10 years and decided there are probably better things to do with my life. It’s still fun to watch.

I can’t see the video. It says the owner limited it to certain domains?

And I got the dragon email also!

    Tony,
Looking forward to hearing your keynote address today. We, MobileCause, will be providing the Text2Screen capability during your Q&A session. The audience will be able to post a question to the display screen simply by sending a text message from their cell phones. It goes like this: “To Participate, text CS and your question to followed by your question to (949) 241-3223″ All questions remain anonymous so people can ask what’s really on their mind.

I see from your “About” section that you are a technically savy guy so I’m sure you’ll enjoy this type of interaction.

Again, looking forward to hearing you.

    Thank you,

    George Morales
