Blog Banner Contest

I’ve already had several submissions for the blog banner contest. I’ll test them out with you all over the next several days. It’ll kind of be like the change in Google graphics…only nothing like that. Everyone reading my blog through RSS feeders will be jealous of those people who actually come to the site and see the new banners.

This first offering is from Ashley at Resurrection Life Church in Richland, Michigan. You can also check out her team’s new blog. Thanks for playing the game, Ashley!

And, now, I need some CSS help. How do I add a link to the banner? I want to be able to click the banner and go back to the home page. And, how do I get rid of that black bar above Ashley’s fancy design?

(This is why I try to stick to writing rather than messing with code.)

    Tony,
    Just wrap anchor tags (linking to your homepage) around the “banner” div. It would look something like this (assuming typepad accepts code input)

    Not sure about the black border. Maybe try zero-ing out the margin and padding on the banner div?

    i like the black bar at the top of the banner. i wouldnt get rid of it, but if you want to, you would have to edit the pic.

    Actually, the black line above the thin white line is not part of the picture. I tested another banner and the black line showed up with that one as well. It works for this banner. It won’t work for some of the other banners that have been submitted. I have a help ticket into my friends at TypePad. They’ll coach me through it.

    Tony, somehow – why would I admit how? – found this “Christian comic hero” named Tony “Anthony” Morgan or “DesertWind”. This is the character. Seemed all too fitting for your new blog header. Buckingham doesn’t bear this kind of muscle and you can’t hear his accent on a banner anyway.
