White Boards, Getting Unbroke and Losing Tech Wars
I’m wrapping up final details before heading out of town for C3. Here are some fun items to keep your mind occupied while I travel…
- Got a “white box” in the mail yesterday from Ben. Sounds like plans are really coming together for the White Board Sessions. Perry’s speaking. Maybe he’ll let me ride along in his suitcase.
- Joe’s book is now available on Amazon. Now would be a good time to pick up a copy of I Was Broke. Now I’m Not.
- For those of you who use FellowshipOne, you may want to consider joining us on February 28. We’re hosting a Regional User Group meeting here at NewSpring. We’ll have a couple of folks here from the Fellowship Technologies team. You’ll also get the chance to meet Joe’s wife, Jenn, who is our database coordinator. Email Jenn for more details.
- Here are more pictures of the site work that started at the Anderson campus.
- In case you missed the news, Mark Beeson has started blogging. He’s writes some great stuff. But…this probably says something about me…I prefer the pictures.
- I’m glad I didn’t purchase the HD DVD player to go with my Xbox. Do you think Microsoft will deliver a Blu-ray option?

I agree about being glad I didn’t get the HD-DVD for the Xbox 360. Sony would be silly to let Microsoft use the Blu-Ray format for the 360. It will not increase their marketshare and that is still one of the pulling points for purchasing a PS3. I have a 360 and chose it because of the games, not the next-generation DVD it had. The problem is now, Sony has no reason to continue to drop the prices of Blu-Ray players and DVD’s.
Hey Tony,
Our team is headed down to the conference today too. Looking forward to a great couple days.
I’m still sitting the format war out, even though the war is over (mainly due to the fact that I don’t have an HDTV yet), but I don’t see any reason why Microsoft shouldn’t try to produce a BD add-on, much like the HD-DVD add-on. If they can offer that (I’m not sure how Sony would license it to Microsoft, but several companies already do it), then they provide all of the compelling reasons to buy a 360, unless the buyer specifically wants to play PS3 games (which there is a serious lack of good titles). With a 360, a BD player, a really nice game console, and a direct HD movie download service (and hopefully Microsoft can make that part even better). That said, I predict we’ll see a BD add-on here in the next couple of months.
