C3 2008 | Brian Houston

We enjoyed a little Aussie flavor this afternoon with a session by Brian Houston from Hillsong. Here are some clips from his message…

  • “I hope you can understand my accent, because when we get to Heaven…we’ll all sound like me.”
  • “If you want to empower people, you have to have a big Kingdom mindset.”
  • Practice taking second place.
  • Oversee a culture of permission. Say “yes” more often.
  • “Can people flourish in my ministry?”
  • There’s a balance between grace and challenge.
  • II Timothy 1:13
  • Empowerment is about interdependence not independence.
  • “See the wealth [value not money] in the people around you.”
  • I think Brian resembles Nicolas Cage.
  • “Live your life honoring the old and promoting the new.”
  • “Speak into the potential of people.”
  • Speaking of Ed Young, “I’ve never heard a man ask so many questions in all my life.”
  • “Ed Young must be one of the nosiest persons I’ve ever met.”
  • Have a heart that wants to learn and grow.
  • Cause. Mission. Vision.
  • Brian just took a drink of water. It appears that he likes American water.
  • “Same cause. Same mission. Sewn through different visions.”

Great quotes & commentary. We got to see him and the united guys a few months ago in Memphis. He mentioned the accent there too!

He gets the Nicholas Cage thing all the time….

One thing I appreciate about Brian is the fact that he makes people feel they can do anything. He sincerly wants to see other people reach their potential.

My favorite part of the post was this sentence: “Brian just took a dring of water.” Thanks, Tony, for the play-by-play…lol :)
