I’d describe Perry’s style this way…. It’s like you’re walking along with a buddy listening to him talking about what’s been going on all week. He’s dealing with the same junk you are and he just talks to you about it. You’re feeling comfortable following him as he leads the conversation and you’re walking a step or two behind him, usually nodding and grinning…..and then BAM (yea, like Batman BAM) the dude stops dead in his tracks, turns on his heels, and before you know it he’s right in your face saying, “Man, this is serious stuff. Here’s what Jesus said in the Bible. What are YOU gonna do about it?” Then he’ll let you catch your breath (usually), turn around and start walking and talking again….drawing you back in until he finds another spot to stop short and, as Perry puts it, “get up in your grill.”
