Am I late to the game, or did North Point just launch their new website? New logo. New color-scheme. Fresh look. Lots of white space. I love it!
While you’re checking it out, here are some things I loved:
- "Next" — Oh, my. Why don’t we eliminate all the noise and make it painfully obvious what I’m supposed to do "next" at North Point? That’s brilliant!
- "Ten Before" — Watch the "Ten Before" video under the News & Announcements tab. That’s a fantastic way to communicate the priorities of what’s happening at North Point. And, they produced it in a way that also communicates, "we know how to speak to today’s media-driven culture."
- YouTube! — Rather than trying to develop our own media player, here’s a novel idea: Let’s just use the media player that the rest of the world is using. Why is it that churches always try to recreate the wheel rather than using the communications tools that the culture has embraced? North Point wins 100 bonus points for simply saying, "We’ll just use YouTube."
OK, there’s more fun stuff for you to check out, but I’ll let you discover it on your own.

You are a little late to the game. We launched it on April 3rd if I remember correctly. I’m glad you like the site. I do contract work for the NP web team and can tell you that a lot of talented people worked (and do work) hard on it. My personal favorite is the new messages page: http://www.northpoint.org/messages

Wow, what a great look!
We’re just starting to implement the same idea with our media. Rather than develop our own complicated pages, we’re going where people already are: YouTube, Flickr, etc.
By the way, am I the only person who is annoyed my MyChurch.org? Is that wrong?

Great site, but had one new hiccup…When I clicked on “next”, my content filter blocked my access because the page address includes the word “adult”. As churches promote safe-surfing, we still get some of our content blocked because of the way our pages are labled. One more thing for us to keep in mind…

Thank you Tony for the comments.
Some additional info about YouTube - it is 15-20 minutes of Andy’s message where we feel people can sink their teeth into. We know people will not step foot in a door of a church but they will click on a link to a place that is familiar and as you said it clearly - something the culture has firmly embraced.
Also, TenBefore is something that we do before the services on all three campuses. Goal was and is to take the announcements OUT of the service. So, why not show them in a different way when people are already sitting. For the first time person arriving, we hope that walls are broken down just by playing this video that welcomes them, identifies them, and lets them know what is going on. We then export the same content to the web each week.
By the way, went to UNLEASH. For a one day conference, you guys accomplish more than what some conferences do in 3 days.
Much Love.
Finally, keep that Ken guy around! (AVCLUB)

We would love to use YouTube! If it wasn’t for the 10 min rule. For messages and stuff we use Google Video - which is YouTube’s Big Brother….

How do I get 100 bonus points? Are they transferrable or redeemable?
