Stupid Leadership Mistakes

For those of you who missed my keynote session at the Church Solutions Conference in Phoenix a couple of months ago, you can read about my stupid leadership mistakes now. An article on that same topic was included in the Church Solutions Factbook 2008. Here’s the online version.

Now that you know my top ten stupid leadership mistakes, what are yours? Maybe we can learn from each other.

My stupid leadership mistake was attending a conference where the keynote speaker’s session was interrupted by a fire alarm, then taking my team to lunch because I didn’t think that the session would resume, thus missing Leadership Mistake Number 10, which I hope was, “Never miss a chance to eat a good lunch.”

Thanks for the great leadership info. I am going to share it with my leadership team. I thought of another mistake I have made as a leader: Creating an atmosphere where the squeaky wheel gets the grease. When people are led to believe that leadership can be manipulated by creating conflict it leads to an adversarial atmosphere in the organization/church and it gives energy to the negative.
