Get Your Strategy On
Thanks for submitting your questions. I’ll try to answer as many as possible through the next several days, and then some of them will likely show up on the future FAQ page. Here are my responses to the first questions:
1. Do you now recognize country music as the superior form of
entertainment or have you not lived here long enough yet? Are you at
least referring ot it as "country" and not "country/western"?
First of all, I think it’s funny that you referred to "country" and "music" in the same phrase. That aside, I absolutely despise country music…unless it helps people meet Jesus. And, the fact that someone could meet Jesus after listening to country music proves that God exists and is all-powerful.
2. What do you think you would be doing right now if God would not have called you into the ministry?
I’d probably still be a city manager…with a blog.
3. Could you explain the hypstatic union? Lots of references to the Greek would be great.
4. Why are Peeps so good? Can an analogy be drawn from their delicious simpleness to the church?
Hmmm… I’m not a big fan of Peeps, but I’ve heard that they are actually better when they’ve been left outside the package. So, like Peeps, the Church is better when it’s stale? Probably not. I guess I’m not very good at this game.
5. In a street fight, who on your staff would be the last one standing?
That’s easy. It would be Brad Cooper, because no one would be willing to hit that pretty face.

Haven’t you ever heard of “Jesus Kicked me through the goalposts of heaven”? THat’s a country song and CLEARLY Christian. Check out the movie “A Mighty Wind” to see how Country and Rap are related thus making them both inferior to Rock/Roll.

On your list you’ve left off what the (still) majority of Methodist churches have- traditional (old) hymns.

Country is only ok if it happens to be Merle Haggard or Rodney Crowell
Ok Rodney is not actual true country.

Re: So, like Peeps, the Church is better when it’s stale?
I would say instead, the Church is better when we’re outside of the church. I mean truly, don’t you think the Church as a whole is so much more effective when we’re out their in the world (living as Christ would have us be) to all instead of just those that thought to enter our doors? Just my take.

Believe it or not, I actually have a post drawing a connection between Peeps and the church! Check it out…there is a relationship!
