Get Your Strategy On
I captured some video from tonight’s LiveFreeLiveLoud concert. The NewSpring band played. Folks gave over $17,000 to three local charities. NewSpring is going to double that amount. Here are a portion of the fireworks that concluded the evening festivities.
Here’s what’s amazing about the video. I captured it all from my Samsung Blackjack cell phone. Using Qik, I was able to live-stream the video. Though the live experience was very choppy because of my slow cell connection (not on the 3G network here), the recorded versions aren’t bad.
Now…here’s the sad news. The fancy new iPhones that are coming out in a couple of weeks won’t be able to do this. Why? Because they aren’t going to have video cameras built in. Just one more reason why I’m probably going to wait for the new Google Phone before I jump ship from my Blackjack.

Looks like it was a great event, Tony! How about posting some of the back story. Would love to know how you all pulled this off, what any issues you faces were, and anything on the planning process. Pretty cool deal.

Very cool!
I am sure you’ll get this from a bunch of people, but the iPhone actually does do video. especially with the new version. There are multiple applications that will be available once the Apple app store is open. I’ve been using 2 different video recorders on my version 1 iPhone for a couple of months now. I do have a jailbroken iPhone, but the new ones will have these apps available. They cost me $10. However, i am not sure if we will be able to use those same apps to do a live stream. the video camera would probably have to be built in versus using an application to do this.
Anyway, would have been very cool to be at this event. Nicely done.

OH - the new iPhones will be able to use qik.com - qik is developing an app for it. With the new iPhones coming out so it a development platform. The camera in the iPhone is video capable Apple just hasn’t provided the software for it - but it will be there for sure ;)

this is good to know. the fact that i can’t record video and picture message with my phone is the only thing i don’t like about my current model.

The new G3 iPhones will have the capability to do live chat with other iPhone users - similar to Skype. Live streaming video is just around the corner July 11.
