I’m sure Perry will have more good news to share, but let me give a quick update. What happened today at NewSpring certainly exceeded my dreams. Here are a few quick updates for those who haven’t been following my Twitter feed today:

  • We had services in two locations for the first time today. (And it actually worked!)
  • We had several people accept Christ at the conclusion of Perry’s message at both the Greenville and Anderson campuses. We won’t be able to confirm those numbers until we follow up this week. That’s what it’s all about. NewSpring is committed to making Jesus famous, one life at a time.
  • We were planning on 1,000 people for services today in Greenville. 1,700 people showed up.
  • With all the volunteers going to Greenville, we were planning on a drop in attendance in Anderson. We actually had 800 more people attend the Anderson campus than we had there last Sunday.
  • We had a total attendance of 8,948 people today. We weren’t expecting anything close to that…especially since all the area colleges are on summer break.
  • There seemed to be a lot of buzz surrounding not only the campus launch but the new series: “You asked for it.”
  • It was fun hearing the stories on both campuses about new people showing up. Great stories! For example, I heard we had one person who attended a service for the first time in 30 years today.
  • Another story I heard was of a husband and a wife who were both invited by separate people on different occasions. They decided to attend for the first time. Their response? “This was so refreshing. We’ll certainly be back.”

I just wanted to thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement in the last couple of weeks. I’ve received way too many messages to respond to them all. Just know that I’m grateful for your support.

God moved in an amazing way today…certainly beyond what was humanly possible.
