A Simple Message
Yesterday, Louie Giglio taught at our services…only he really didn’t. We used a video of a message he taught last fall. It was powerful. (Just in case you’re wondering, I’m convinced video teaching works when the video teaching is good.)
I know. I’m fortunate. I get to experience world-class teaching every weekend here at NewSpring. And, I know not everyone is wired to be a Perry Noble or a Louie Giglio, but everyone can communicate better.
Here’s what struck me about Louie’s message:
- He basically used one verse. (John 16:33)
- He told one story. (from a series of email messages he received)
- He used one visual. (an anchor)
- He addressed one felt need. (finding hope when life hurts)
Sometimes we make communications, ministry, life more complicated than it needs to be.
There’s power in simplicity.

Sounds like one BIG IDEA. :) Love it! Dave
As a self taught communicator for so long I had to learn that if give so many “take homes” that they wont fit in someone’s pockets, they wont bother to take home any of them.
I think the key is to simplify without dumbing down.
that is an awesome idea. are there any licensing loop holes to jump through with using content not originated under your church?
tyler, yes, we had to get permission to use the video.

Simplicity is so overlooked these days. Its envigerating to hear that another teacher is making it happen.
Actually Tony, you are right. Yesterday was amazing. And YES the video teaching / preaching works. Both yesterday and every week in G’ville.
Yes simple most times works best at least for me.
I am a volunteer on the production team and it thrills and amazes me that what I/ we do plays a small part in changing lives.
Praise God for churches where both the body and the earthly leadership are focused on God…( PERIOD )
I’ve heard him preach that message and it IS powerful!
Hmm, a formula.
