Seth Godin and Me

You can’t orchestrate moments like this. Fortunately, though, it has been captured for posterity. Take a look at the picture below. A few things to note:

  • Anne Jackson captured the picture on her cell phone. That’s her sweet tea in the foreground.
  • The handsome man with the yellow tie and the green eye glasses is Seth Godin. Notice that he’s gesturing with his hand as he makes a brilliant point on marketing as only Seth could make.
  • That’s me behind the sweet tea trying to eat and listen at the same time. Yes, the most-respected man in marketing was speaking and I was trying to eat my lunch. I can assure you that says far more about me than it does about Seth.
  • In the background, you’ll notice a man that looks a little like Seth Godin without the yellow tie and the green eye glasses. That’s none other than Tim Stevens walking into the session a few minutes late. :-)
  • Finally, there’s the set of hands to my left. I’ll send a free copy of Seth Godin’s new book, Tribes, to the first person who correctly identifies that set of hands.

You wouldn’t have believed me if I didn’t have the picture to prove it. Thanks, Anne, for capturing this great moment in church history.

  37. daniel d October 26, 2008 at 9:36 pm #

man, i even recall seeing another pic someone else posted from another table that showed you guys from the side… can’t find it now. boo.

i see a wedding ring so it must be a guy who is married.

    Jon Acuff

  39. Jim October 26, 2008 at 9:59 pm #

for what its worth, Pete Wilson was my first guess, but someone already guessed that. Can we keep guessing? I see a wedding ring, I think, what about Jeff Henderson?

  40. Jim October 26, 2008 at 10:12 pm #

Defintely Pete Wilson, you can see the telltale white wrist band and wedding ring on the video shot the same day here http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/773810 Boy, no Sunday Night football and a non competitive world series game leads to this, think I will go to bed

  41. Scott Fillmer October 26, 2008 at 10:45 pm #

Seth had a great session at Catalyst this year, was glad I was there to get some pics too. It was a great few days in Atlanta but sure seemed to go by fast.

  42. tony October 26, 2008 at 11:42 pm #

ok, i’m going to make a rule that people who were in the room for the session with seth can’t guess. (besides…you already received the book for free.) that means pete can’t guess. sorry.

and we know it wasn’t pete, or pete wouldn’t want to be guessing.

and it’s not ed stetzer even though he’s trying to convince me that it was.

so, here’s what we know. it’s not a woman. it’s not a single person. it’s not a newspringer. it’s not pete wilson or ed stetzer. it’s not tim stevens.

here’s one more hint for tonight. it was a senior pastor.

Very enjoyable game! And not a bad roster of you guys who were wandering around Catalyst, either. It was great to see most of you either live or backstage with Anne.

For the record, i was guess that it was Pete throwing people off by asking to guess. I guess I’m too devious.
