@ whozep68: I advocate that if my clients have multitple email accounts, they have only one inbox. For instance, I have about 7 different email accounts, but they all go to one place. Having multiple gathering points dramatically increases the amount of switchtasking a person does.

The trick is scheduling a regular time to check and process email that makes sense for the demands of your work and personal life. My schedule may not work for everyone, but the principle is the same. If there is an expectation from other that you check your email in the evening, then you either need to have a regular time to check it, or adjust the expectations fo others.

@ okjedi: Most people report being able to read the book in just a couple of hours. It is a small book and a quick read. Hope that helps!

P.S. Budgeting regular time in your calendar for your r"ead and review" list makes a big difference!

The only problem with this whole post is I really want to read this book now, but have a ton of books on shelves, beside the bed, on my desk and even a pretty healthy iTunes library of audio books... just no time to get to them. I'll add this to the list. Actually, I'm learning to do this more and more in my life. God, family, vocation. It has to be that way or life just doesn't work.

"From 5:00 pm forward I focus on my family until the next morning."

I would wonder what he would say about having multiple e-mail accounts. For instance, I was a youth minister and some parents were upset that I wouldn't check my church e-mail at home (which is the same as shutting the laptop). Parents would push back and say that I expected them to check the e-mails I sent them on personal time. I responded that I sent them to their personal from my work account.

So should we have a personal and work e-mail. If so, how should be balance them?
