Hear Chandler & Piper for Free
I have two FREE tickets to the Desiring God Conference. The conference will be held in Minneapolis on February 2 – 4. This is your chance to hear from guys like Mark Dever (Capitol Hill Baptist Church), Matt Chandler (The Village Church) and John Piper (Bethlehem Baptist Church).
I will give the two FREE tickets to the person who best explains to me why they should attend a conference in Minneapolis in February. (Who schedules this stuff?) Leave your responses in the comment section.
Though I’m not pre-destined to attend this particular event (a little theology humor for you), I’m certain that two of my loyal readers are.
Will it be you?

I shouldn’t attend this conference, but my pastor and his wife would really grow and benefit from it. Both of them value the way Chandler and Piper share and are extremely good about applying newfound ideas to their lives and to our church. That’s Darren Wigington and his wife Rhonda.
I guess I could make up some really great off the wall reason why I should be the one you pick but I won’t. I’d like to have the tickets because I’ve been wanting to go to a Desiring God Conference for a few years now, but just have never had the extra finances the past few years. Guess that’s it. Thanks for the chance and thanks for the great stuff here on the blog.
I would love to send my associate pastor to this conference. We’re not a very large church and he and his wife have served here for 3 years on a volunteer basis. He thoroughly enjoys John Piper and actually has family in the Minneapolis area which would help make the overall cost even less. We’re about 5 hours away by car, which he and his wife would gladly do. This would be a great opportunity for them – all expenses paid (free tickets from you, food & transportation from us) to a great conference and even getting to see family. If anyone deserves it, Rod & Danni do!
Tony,
Cool idea and thanks for the chance to go to the conference. Im sure you’ll get a lot of the same answers for this, but Im a newbie in the ministry, my wife and I just moved to Cincinnati, OH(moved from Greenville, SC) where I took a Worship Leader position at a church plant here in the area. I’d like to go just to sit under some of the great teachers at the conference, I think it could potentially be a life changing thing for me and I’d be able to learn some incredible things. I appreciate it man.
Hey Tony. To be honest, the people who have already commented here and are serving in ministry deserve the tickets more than me. However, I live 45 minutes from Minneapolis, and I’ve been wanting to go to the conference and hear these men bring it…so, if things don’t work out with anyone else, I’d be all over it! Thanks man.
Short and simple:
1. Sell tickets on eBay to highest bidder
2. Give proceeds to church planter who needs the cash
I’m the accountant for a church in Arkansas, and just getting out of here would be great regardless of the location. in Arkansas, and hearing Chandler & Dever speak would be awesome.some.
Tony. I am predestined to have those tickets. Plus I am on your team. Pour back into your church here, by giving those to me. Please?
I will never hug you again if you give them to me.
But if you don’t, you get a big hug every time I see you.
That is a threat.
What do you say?
I’d play the game but I’m gonna need two free plane tickets with it!!! Sweeten the pot and I’ll chime in :)
Not only going to, but looking forward to going to Minneapolis in February (I can feel the ice in my nostrils already) is something that only a real man would brave. “The Pipe” (as me and my friend Eric call him) is the closest you’ll get to an actual superhero. He oozes with wisdom and it seems that listening to him speak at his conference would be completely worth the worst winter I would probably experience (I’m a SoCal guy). Piper is the only suit-and-tie-wearing-big-wooden-pulpit-preaching-oldschool-style Pastor that I actually enjoy listening to and learning from…he challenges the heck out of me. I don’t even know who Chandler & Dever are, but if they’re on the same ticket as The Pipe then they have to be studs too. I’d be honored to go and get my Christian Hedonist on up in Minnesota! I have faith, “saving faith”, that you’ll make the “infinitely glorious” right choice.
I am born and raised Independent Fundamental Baptist (AMEN!) Anyways, it came out at our family Christmas gathering (any man above 22+ is in ministry) that me…the youngest, prodigal child is a Calvinist. After taking many predestined jokes from family for the last 2weeks, I am pre-destined for these tickets!
I don’t want to go.
(Just kidding…of course.)
:)
I am not able to go, but my father needs to go. He just became a first-time pastor of a church here in Canada and could use the encouragement and the instruction. He is a godly man who after working for Ford for 30 years went back to Seminary and is now pastoring a wonderful little congregation. This would be a big encouragement to him and my mother.
because i have a staff member who has a life size poster of piper on his wall and thinks matt chandler is a prophet – our meager church planting budget doesn’t provide much additional conference training but this one would be a major point of joy in our office if the tix came through…cjm
I would love to attend this conference with my wife. It would be a great getaway for my wife and I. But If I win these tickets, I will be giving them to my pastor, who is a pastor of a new church plant in New Orleans.
I have been praying that my Dad can come to this year’s DG pastors’ conference (and visit my husband and I at the same time!), but being from a small church and not really taking a salary for the past few months has made it kind of out of the question… unless he WON some tickets! :) He’s the most faithful, Biblical, devoted, under-appreciated pastor I know.
I’m sure that attending this conference would give a much-needed boost to his faith and bear fruit in his ministry to the church and to the men in prison that he preaches to twice a week.
Pick him! Pick him! :D
I recently decided on the name of a new church plant because of a scripture/illustration from one of Piper’s sermons. I’d like to thank him personally :)
Tony–
I personally believe that being in Minneapolis would be a gas in February. I mostly feel that because it is where my family lives. Oh, yeah, so do I.
Here’s the emotional pitch. I’m a church planter in the northwest suburbs, don’t always get paid for my work, and I’ve been eyeing this conference but haven’t gotten tickets because I just can’t cough the dough up. I won’t need lodging or anything, but would love to get there.
Did I mention my 5 kids?? One’s in the hospital as we speak. No shot of coming up with the money myself at this point. (and yes, everything in here is true…can’t blame a guy for playing up the sympathy card, can ya??).
Besides, Tony Liston would tell you to send them to me. He and I are mod buddies from p.com’s hey-days.

I am fairly sure that NewSpring has a number of guys that would give their right testicle for those tickets….
not me tho
you can have my left…
Well I’m from San Francisco, Ca. and I’ve never been on the east or the Midwest before. Now i know it might be a stretch for me to get out there but i would definitely love to go out and enjoy the experience. I’ve never been to any type of conference like this before, besides youth conferences and to tell you the truth I’m in the process of trying to raise up money for CATALYST WEST to hear Perry & the rest. So yeah i would definitely want to be the winner of the tickets. how i’m going to get there? well that’s another story, but i’ll worry about that. hey will you do this for the unleash conference as well?
I would love to attend this.
I would also be able to hand deliver the autographed copy of Killing Cockroaches that Dr. Piper has been waiting on.
Enjoy those tickets Jason!!! Well done, Tony. Thanks for making someone’s month.
