Free Live Webcast with Perry Noble (and me)
You’ll want to get in front of a computer screen tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday, January 7) for a free webcast with Perry Noble. I’ll be interviewing him on leadership and ministry strategy and some other fun topics. You’ll have the opportunity to participate and ask questions. We’ll be taking questions from webcast viewers. It’ll be live. And, most importantly, it’ll be FREE.
Here are the details:
- Session will start at 3:00-ish (Eastern time)
- Live video webcast will be on my Mogulus channel.
- Watch my Twitter updates for exact start time.
Feel free to start asking questions by leaving comments on this post. Just as a reminder, I happen to believe there are stupid questions. I can’t make any promises that Perry or I will answer all the questions we receive. Just because we don’t answer your question, though, doesn’t necessarily mean I think it’s one of the stupid ones…though it could be.
Hope to see you in the chat room tomorrow. Tell all your friends. We had over 160 viewers last time. I’m expecting a full house tomorrow.

will this live session be recorded and posted on your blog for those of us that are not at our computers at 3 pm?
this is great. i will try my darndest to be there.
my question for perry — i realize he takes a lot of hits from other pastors and churches (for instance, that ridiculous commentary on the post i wrote about him that ended up having to be deleted). as much as he has grown and learned over the last few years, that stuff has still got to jack with him (not to mention the overarching principle of disunity jacking with him). in those moments, how does he pull back into his confidence of who god has called him to be?
All over it!!!!
I’m curious why Perry Noble hates the Buckeyes so much. Makes it really hard for me to want to follow much of anything he says. Why you got to be a hater?
:) Other than that, he’s enjoyable to listen. Heard him at the C3 conference last year.
It’s so nice of you to do this on my birthday. Thanks, Tony.
Here’s one.
1. How ’bout hiring me?
Really juiced about this! Looking forward to being there
Question for Perry to be placed under “other fun stuff” category-
Steve Spurrier: Have we seen the last of The Visored One or will he endure yet another season?
I think it’s incredibly wise to avoid taking sides politically. Why not do the same with college football? Maybe an even hotter issue down here in the South. It’s gonna be hard to to go Columbia bashing the Cocks.
FYI. I don’t like either one. I’m a Dawg fan but I know a Tech, Vol, or Gator coming to Athens downing the Dawgs would make people hate Jesus. Yes, it is their god (and used to be mine to a great extent)
Love what y’all are doing. Keep bingin’ it…hard!
I’ll try and be there. I think I’d love to hear Perry or you, Tony talk about how you keep the main thing the main thing in your planning/executing of the weekend services and how you motivate people to live evangelistically. (not sure if that’s a real word, or just a church word. rephrase freely)
Question, How do you grow a church when the total membership does not even justify two Sunday School classes? And how do you keep positive when you have people who don’t like the vision God has given you for the church?
Just a few qeustions I am struggling with and thought you might have some ideas. Thanks
Question for Perry and You: I believe that doing God things usually isn’t about knowing how to do it… but HOW to do it. Like cleaning my room when I was a kid… I knew how to fold clothes… but didn’t mean my room stayed clean. There were some intangibles I had to learn. What would you say are the most important “background” pieces that you two have learned and what do I need to know how to “do” to develop the systems that you have?
Sorry for the long question… can’t wait for the broadcast… Love you guys!
I would like to hear some more about Perry’s calling. The process he went through as he felt God calling him to ministry and how he transitioned through being a youth pastor to church planter. I’m particularly interested in the people who invested themselves in him and coached him along the way and any suggestions he might have for someone looking to be coached by someone else in ministry…not a sales pitch…just some advice. ;)
Question for Perry:
What would you say to a group of people that are all members of the same church, but don’t feel they are getting challenged enough by their pastor? Is this an instance where starting their own church would be a good idea? Why or why not?
Loved the quote, “Giving birth is easier than raising the dead!”
I hear a lot of pastors voice frustrations over how discontent they are with their ministry. What’s the most common complaint you hear from other pastors and what advice do you have for them?
Question for Perry:
My wife and I are avid Newspring online service watchers and are looking forward to the Internet campus, so that we can particpate. My question relates to your most recent Sunday nigh reflection post. Please clarify what you mean by “denominations are pretty much dead”. Do you feel that there is hope for reform in any of the major denomiantions, specifically, SBC? I am a fellow pastor and feel led to try to work on refrom from within denominational ties. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Cool, can’t wait, plan on being there.
you know how Perry has said (something along the lines of) people who are in jobs they know they aren’t called to should quit today? if you have bills to pay and kids to feed…where is the line between faithfulness and irresponsibility? also, how does/can your post on “how to get from here to there” relate to these type decisions?
Great idea Tony. I love the way you guys are so willing to share with all of us.
I get to hear quite a bit about what Perry is saying “yes” to these days. I would be interested in hearing what he’s saying “no” to in order to make room to go after the important things New Spring is trying to accomplish.
This is a great idea…can’t wait to participate. Here is my question: Newspring is a relatively new church, how do you initiate change in an older established church where people have roots that go a mile deep? Feathers get easily ruffled when you want to change the paint color in the fellowship hall.
I don’t mean for these questions to be construed as negative criticism. I am simply just curious. First, why is Newspring choosing to show live videos of Mr. Noble in their satellite campuses instead of letting the pastors of those campuses preach each week.
My other question is what is the leadership structure of Newspring Church? Is there a Board of Deacons or Elders that are “in charge” and how are they chosen?
Thanks for considering these questions. I have been to Newspring several times, and I believe God is truly blessing that church. I’ve had the above questions for awhile, but didn’t want to bother anybody with an e-mail.
My question: We have seen hundreds accept Christ with many more to come. How are these vulnerable, baby Christians nurtured? Are there plans for more bible studies?
2nd: Since there are still huge needs in our communtiy, what changed your mind to get involved with missions abroad?
Hello Tony and Perry,
I come from Bulgaria but I live in Sweden with my swedish husband. I just want to say this: Your church is already global. I know people in Bulgaria that watch the sermons and I will talk about your church to many more people. But the problem is this: Not so many bulgarians understand english. Can we solve it somehow? And one last thing: Bulgaria needs many churches like Newspring. Can you consider to start churches all over Bulgaria in the future? I understand it takes prayers and direction from God. thank you.
Hope I can see it live from work. Question for Perry: What are some ways that you intentional create boundaries when dealing with the opposite sex in ministry to protect yourself from hurting your family and the church.
Question #1: Talk about the beginning of Newspring and how you gathered people to come on board/support and go with the vision you had to reach Anderson.
Question #2: For Tony and Perry: What accountability measures are in place for each of you? Who holds you accountable?
Thanks men!
You speak a lot on the fact that denominations have run their course and the church needs to get past them and come together. Someone I look up to greatly say the other day, “A single church, no matter how large, cannot change the entire community, it will take many churches in the same area coming together and working in a network to create a changed community.” Newspring cant reach everybody, there are some people that just dont like it, and so they wont come. Say a smaller church down the road can reach them, merely because they do things in a different way. What is Newspring doing to re-connect the church and create a network of churches with a passion to reach the community other than saying it from stage?
No condemnation from me at all, just felt like askin a hard question. You rock dude, and you to Tony Morgan. (I twitter and i saw that you followed me and it made me feel cool. then i realized that it said you follow everybody who follows you. but i still felt cool. ha)
P.S. My dad wants to know if your so confidant in what God has told you to do at newspring, why do you spend so much time defending it instead of doing it?
ha double question comment…
Sorry that was so long…
Perry, Please expand on the churches position on Gays and lesbians as a part of the church, and help me understand other than it being a sin, scriptual position on this. Are we to love the sinner, but hate the sin?Which would make sense to me, or, is there some basis in the Bible where we avoid contact at all costs?
Thanks!
Perry: I have heard you mention that about once a month you think about resigning and need to be “talked in off the ledge” (by Furtick or others), I think I know what brings you back in off the ledge, but what specific events get you there in the first place?
This is too cool…
I asked Perry one time not long ago to mentor me…he doesn’t know me and I’m not local…as I thought, he’s got a full plate.
So, that being said, I do you (Perry) mentor your people? Explain the process…do they come to you or do you see potential in them first? What kind of schedule and accountability do you keep with them, etc.
thank you…looking forward to the broadcast…
I have a ministry question for Perry.
What advice would you give to someone who knows God has called him into the ministry? What steps should be taken while in and after college to prepare for this?
Thanks
Hey Tony and Perry…my question is more on the lite side if ya’ll happen to take a break from the deep questions….
Where do you get your awesome shirts Perry?!
Like the Jedidiah one and others…
Can’t wait for the interview
Tony, how is “church” different in the south versus the mid west?
Perry, if the original ten year goal (if I remember right) was to have 1000 members, where do you see Newspring ten years from now?
Hey Pastor Tony and Pastor Perry. I’m stoked for the Webcast. My question is for either of you guys.
When did you know that you were called to be a major influencer in today’s church and what steps did you take to prepare for that calling?
Can’t wait to watch a little later!
Hello Perry:
Just curious! Will we be seeing you or your sermons on TV any time soon? If not, your reasons why?
PS: As my pastor, thank you again for lifting Christ up and following his direction!! Awesome!
I would appreciate any advice for a young leader. What would you wish you would have known in your mid-20′s?
I am Perry’s age, called to leave secular and move into full-time ministry as an Xpastor, COO, administrator. Tony/Perry what has worked well for bringing non-seminary people in as Pastors, such as Tony? Any thoughts/guidance for me?
Thinking about how Jesus allocated His time among the three in His inner circle, the rest of the Twelve, and then the 70, how does your typical week divide up as it relates to spending time with those three groups?
My question:
When doing multi-site, why not make a “church plant” complete with full staff? Why did you choose to do video teaching? I know it works and I am in favor of using, but some people criticize and say its too much about one man. Thanks
Oh and one more question.
Why Clemson?
If you were planting newspring right now in 2009 – what would you do differently?
Hey first I just want to tell Perry thank you so much for following what God put on your heart to do for Him. It has litterally saved my husbands soul and for that I have no words to express my gratitude. Jesus gave you the words to reach him when no one else could.
My question for you is as a new mom what is the biggest and best way I can relate Jesus to my 16 month old?
My “question”… I just listened to Perry’s message from last Sunday. IT WAS AWESOME!!! But, it tore me up because I have the same vision for the church I planted 7 years ago. But it ain’t happening yet, at least on that scale. The quote Perry read from the guy in Australia especially got to me. Anyway, I keep pressing on but I get discouraged. I sometimes wonder if I am in the right place but God def hasn’t called me anywhere else yet. I would appreciate some advice or encouraging words for myself and other guys like me out there who are in a similar boat.
Please explain, the best you can, the ‘internet campus’. I have many many friends that cannot attend one of our campus’ and I would love to introduce them to NewSpring. Perry, you are a great teacher/preacher, I want others to experience that.
Home groups seem to be a struggle for NewSpring, at least you said it was earlier. How do we plan to fix that?
Here is a question for Perry. I hope that it is worth answering.
For pastors or church planters who work full time jobs, what do you suggest we focus on in order to properly use the very small amount of time that we have, in order to do what we feel we are called to do?
Or. What do you feel is the most critical advice that you could give a pastor or church planter who works a full time job?
I was intrigued by your comment last Sunday regarding racists in the church and that you would be addressing the issue in the future. Are there specific goals for Newspring to try and overcome the reality that “the most segregated hours in the US are on Sunday morning”?
I absolutely love what God is doing through Perry and Newspring!!!
My questions is this…As a Pastor I am tired and frustrated…tired of all the negativity in the local church and frustrated that people who say they will support and love you to the end eventually turn thier backs on you and shove the knife deep in your back, or front as it were…I am tired of seeing my wife cry on a weekly basis because of these and other isues. At what point do you say eneough is enough and move on? I have been here 5+ years and we have grown, built a new building, changed everything from our name to the entire exterior of the buildings, doubled our staff, doubled our congregation, feed 2500 every month through a food pantry and done great things for the Kingdom, but sometimes the pain and anquish is just too much for my bride. When is enough…enough and when do you make a decision that may negatively affect others but benefits your family? I’ve got more…but that is it for now.
Thanks for the opportunity to hang out and learn together…
Perry,
I can only imagine that one of your most difficult tasks is shouldering the spiritual wieght of newspring. In a recent message in the Beautiful series, you mentioned Jesus praying all night for the woman caught in adultry. I would agree with you and walked away from the sermon convinced that you probably did the same for the women you would preach that particular sermon to.
Shortly after that sermon I heard a reference to how many people gave their lives to Jesus after that sermon. PRAISE GOD for the salvations!
Would you say that their is a direct connection between God breaking a heart for the lost ( in a specific way), and seeing him change people’s lives? In other words, Jesus had to carry his cross and suffer crucifixion before salvation was at hand.
Woody from NH
You mentioned that the you are open to the Holy Spirit changing the direction of a service. How does the design team plan for that?
That was the quickest interview I’ve ever had…
I wish I’da said: I’ll come sweep floors…I’ll come open doors…I’ll sing..speak..or just sit and warm someone’s seat if I need to. I’d love to be a part of what you guys are doing at Newspring. I am multi-talented and will bring a lot of value to whatever team God places me with.
thanks for the Interview…LOL
