Perryisms
Here are the memorable lines from Perry’s message today. (The boy just needs to learn how to say what’s on his mind.)
- “Are you living the kind of life that makes God want to throw up?”
- “Jesus did not die on the cross for us to be good. He died for us to live for him.”
- “For too long the church in America has been too obsessed with creeds and not deeds.”
- “You can be in the church but not in the Kingdom.”
- “Is there a time in your life when you became the recipient of the grace of God?”
- “None of us in this room are perfect.”
- “Some of us are not going to Heaven.”
- “Information without transformation equals damnation.”
- “If brokenness isn’t happening in the church, then nothing is happening in the church.”
- God’s saying, “You kiss toilets all week long then you come to church on Sunday and want to kiss me.”
- “Where are you actively serving others within the context of the Body of Christ?”
- “I believe there is potential in this room that will not be unlocked until we’re willing to step up and serve others.”
- “Too many 5, 10, 15, 20-year old Christians are still trying to latch on the nipple.” (Don’t think about that too long. That’s gross.)
- “We need to take personal responsibility for our walk with Jesus Christ.”
- “It’s your job to feed yourself spiritually.”
- “Who are you doing life with? Who could have the hard conversation with you?”
- “Generosity is the mark of a fully-devoted follower of Christ.”

Man that first line – just stopped me in my tracks:
“Are you living the kind of life that makes God want to throw up?”
wow. it may be graphic – but it’s right on – I think that’s a very appropriate definition of the word “Abomination.”
I love that you guys are doing this series…
Sidenote: have you read John Burke’s book by the same title?
