Bird’s Eye View of Anderson Campus
My friend Barron emailed me this picture of the NewSpring Anderson Campus. It looks like a very recent photo. For some perspective:
- Everything left of the bright green columns is our original building.
- Everything right of the bright green columns is the new children’s ministry building. The lower level will be for kids in grades K-5 and our nurseries. The second level is for office space. My team will actually be located in the second level space closest to the green columns.
- The building to the right is our new student ministry building.

Here are some additional details that may interest you:
- The new children’s building is 44,000 square feet. The student ministry building is 43,000 square feet. I think our original building is around 120,000 square. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong.)
- We’re hoping to open both new buildings in late-February or early-March.
- The student ministry building includes a new 1,000-seat auditorium that we also plan to use as a new venue for Sunday services.
- The children’s building includes three 170-seat theaters for elementary school-aged kids.
- Our current children’s ministry space will be renovated after the Unleash Conference for preschool-aged kids.
- The student ministry building has a gym (far-right portion of the facility) and a football field with lighting (just below the facility).
Because of the space constraints we’re experiencing in Anderson, I can’t tell you how excited we are to see these two new buildings open up. As a parent of four kids that will be hearing about Jesus in these buildings, I must also express that I’m grateful to my NewSpring family for making this investment for my kids and their friends.

Tony-
This might be something you address down the road, if so, then I’ll wait.
Re: onsite video venue (I’m assuming video teaching)
What are the thoughts/ideas on getting people to the venue rather than the live auditorium? Will the video venue have a unique flair/personality? Country Music? (I know you love it!)
Will this venue have a campus pastor similar to distance campuses or not since it’s at the same location?
scott
tony, it’s a pleasure to pour out to your family. one day we too may have children in there. and if not….then it is still worth all the time/effort/energy/funds for the good of The Kingdom and our community.
i wept like a baby when I got to walk through both buildings on Tuesday….i’m amazed at what God has done, is doing, is going to do in our little corner of the world. and we GET to be holding onto our forks while He does it all through our consistent efforts.
i’m smokin what Perry’s preachin!
those are good questions. what are the answers?
awesome..what’s the $ for all that? God bless
Well I know the Youth Building does not have a sloped floor so the effects of spilling a drink isn’t as big. So maybe people will go knowing that they may be able to take coffee in (I don’t know if this is true….eh T-Mo?). And rumor has it Tony is going to go through the aisles throwing popcorn and peanuts.
Also, it’s new. People hopefully will naturally check it out at first, but the trick will be a few months down the road…maybe we postpone “Throwing Tony” until then….
As for the cost, I don’t know the latest figures…but I think we had a coupon.
I asked you first! But since you asked, here’s my 2 cents-
(not the expert here, just speaking from experience) I’ll start with my second question as it leads into the first. I tend to think on site video venues should have a campus pastor just like distance campuses. I think some might lean towards not having that point person since the “main” campus already has the senior/lead pastor there. However, this service or services need to have an identity (something we struggled with for a long time with our onside video venue services). It’s easy for people to see these services as overflow and second rate.
Ultimately, you want to create a “tribe” of sorts lead by the campus pastor, or whatever name that lead person has. Those who are part of the tribe identify with and love and support their leader. Thus, a sense of community is created with this group. Those folks become faithful to pastor x and the 11:00 video service (made up time).
I think creating that sense of community within those services can go much further than just having a different type of music or more drama. The video venues might have different service format or music, but that is not the foundation of why people connect to those services. They connect because “their” people are part of that community. They become owners and not people who just happened to show up late and had to watch the video.
Okay, I answered. You going to show your cards?
