Multi-site Changes Everything

I’m preparing my breakout session for Thursday. We’re hosting Unleash 09 at NewSpring. Almost 3,000 people are registered. I’m expecting exactly 4 of those people to be at my breakout session. If you’re one of those 4, here are my notes. I’ll be talking through this for about 30 minutes. Then we’ll have about 30 minutes for Q&A.

Yes, multi-site changes everything. (And, in case you’re wondering, web campuses change everything else.) That’s what I’ll be talking about on Thursday. Feel free to start leaving your questions as comments on this post. I’ll start with those.

See you on Thursday. Be there or be square.

So just to clear things up…since there is no specific web campus breakout, this is the one to attend for those of us interested in web campus insight?

Q: When considering a multi site location, what factors should be considered on whether to purchase property vs. rent space in a strategic location?

Q: Would the funds that may have been used for a mortgage payment be better utilized if we rent space and pour funds into local outreach to gain greater influence and/or impact in that area?

Q: Geograhically, should a multi site be far enough away that attenders don’t bounce back and forth between locations? Does that matter?

Q: Our facility currently seats 900 with the ability to utilize video feed to overflow rooms around the building. Your notes say “NO” to build bigger. What are your thoughts if we were to double the size of the current facility to approximately 2000, then say “NO” to a bigger building? :-)

For a guy who talks a lot about big dreams and all, you sure have low expectations to think you’d only have 4 come to your workshop… either that, or you have a thick sarcasm :) don’t you know you’re a rock star?! :)
