My Favorite Blackberry Apps

I know. I’m not as cool as you because I carry a Blackberry instead of an iPhone. Until AT&T improves their coverage where I live, iPhone isn’t an option. And, until AT&T improves their pricing to be competitive with the Sprint “Everything” family plans, the iPhone isn’t an option.

That said, there are some apps on Blackberry that make it more than just a great tool for communication. Here are my favorite apps:

  • AllSport GPS – Use it to track my time, distance and pace when I run.
  • Blackberry App World – Where I browse new apps.
  • Gmail – Because my world is run through Gmail.
  • Google Mobile App – One of the coolest new features is the search by voice.
  • Google Sync – Syncs my Google calendar and contacts to my phone.
  • Opera Mini – I prefer this mobile browser of the ones I’ve tried so far.
  • Pandora – The mobile version of my favorite free music web app.
  • Salesforce Mobile – It connects me to the CRM app I’ve landed on.
  • SmartFlicks – Accesses my Netflix account from my phone.
  • Sprint Navigation – No need for a separate navigation system. It’s all on my phone.
  • TetherBerry – The only paid app I own. Allows me to connect to the Internet through my phone.
  • TwitterBerry – It’s what I use to post updates to Twitter and follow replies and direct messages.
  • Vlingo – Use it to dictate messages and control my phone with my voice.
  • YouVersion – Allows me to carry my Bible with me wherever I go.

What am I missing that you would recommend I check out?

    hey thanks for posting this. i’m 80% i need to stay with verizon and get a bb (rather than an iphone), and i think you’ve pushed me up to 99%.

    Check out reQall a memory management/to-do type app allows you to record by voice and it will transcribe to your list. Say “buy eggs tomorrow” and it will put it on your calendar tomorrow and on your shopping list automagically. I have been happy with it so far.

    I love all of these…especially Tetherberry…kinda pricey, but worth it.

    Also use Live Search for and sometimes Poynt for movie showtimes, weather, traffic, and restaurants…not sure which I like best yet…both have their benefits.

    Oh and I second haemin, in my experience so far ubertwitter has been great and I like it much better than twitterberry also.

    You really need to try UberTwitter as an alternative to TwitterBerry. It’s far superior.

    Tony,
    Is there a way to make Opera the default browser in BB that you know of. I love opera, but because the bb browser is the default on clicking links I rarey get to use it.

    three main apps i use on my BB Storm are 1. Uber Twitter 2. Facebook 3. Viigo-it has everything in one (FREE)

    - Viigo for me it organizes my blogs, weather, sports, list is endless for what it offers.

    - Quickpull with a lot of data running through my BB it allows me to do a battery pull without actually pulling the battery out.

    - Poynt – business look up, movie times and locations, map program that ties in with Google Maps.

    Tony – do you use the Evernote application? It is now available on Blackberry…

    Here’s why I like it:

    1. I can keep a list (like a ‘to do’) up to date – whether I update it from a pc, or my blackberry, or the web. So my notes are with me anywhere I go, And if I need to make a change to it, I can make it on what ever took I have available – AND it syncs it up

    2. I can keep a knowledge repository (ie, list of contact info – phone addresses, bdays) with me wherever I am — AND IS PORTABLE. So if someone tells me they have a new phone number, I can update it in one place and it will SYNC to one place.. I don’t have to remember to change it on my phone, on my spreadsheet, etc.

    3. I can type up a document (with the speed of a regular keyboard) and it becomes available as a note to my blackberry/touch – to read or edit

    4. I can grab info from pdf files and build a knowledge base (like a map of the mall, etc)

    5. I can BACK UP all the contents off as files that I can put on a dvd. So if I lose anything or it crashes, I don’t lose any of my info – like the contact list on a phone

    Hey…have you checked out the Palm Pre from Sprint? Comes out Friday. It’s sure to catch up to the iphone apps very soon and in addition to the features of the iphone, the Pre has a pull out keyboard.
