Where I live you can only get unlimited data plans for Blackberry. I know that's not the actual phone, but why get an iPhone if it costs more to use it?

Blackberry users can resist bragging to their friends and coworkers about how great their phone is. You bought a phone. Unless you invented it, don't brag about how great you are because you have one.

Apple closing the door on google voice almost made me jailbreak my iPhone...again. I wouldn't trade my iPhone for a Blackberry, but Apple needs to loosen the reigns a bit on this thing. What if Google responded with, "well we'll just pull the maps, youtube and other Google apps from the app store" ? It could get interesting. Somebody, somewhere will figure out a way to circumvent it I'm sure. They've already done it on the jailbreak version. I hope they fix that soon.

And I've been with AT&T from the beginning, but I think that when iPhones are available to more cell networks we'll see a shift in their stranglehold on some of these apps. (keeping my fingers crossed)

Hey Guys. Judge for yourself... from the experts! Check it out...

Judge for yourself. (Keep in mind, as is obvious from this post and the comments, your enjoyment of the iPhone features may vary depending on where you live. Apparently in Canada where I am, that's not a problem. ; )

Funny thing... not a single one of the three things you listed here is true. I use google voice and it works great. I tether my iPhone and it works great too. I make more phone calls than the average Joe, being that I'm a Realtor, and have no problems with that either. I'm STILL waiting on one person to give me any reason that a BB is better than an iPhone. Nice try though :)

As a long-time BB user, I must admit that I miss the jog dial.

iPhones are nice, but the battery life blows. Who wants a "phone" you have to charge twice a day to get "average" use out of? If they'd improve that AND open it to other carriers, they might actually get somewhere.

P.S.
Bragging about the iPhone having 50,000 apps is a bit pointless. The majority of those are redundant or contain little value. I'd rather have the most powerful email platform (AND ENCRYPTION) on my phone instead.

Interesting. The iphone has changed my life. I love it.

But I actually really like AT&T service here in Indiana. I tried everything and never could get service where I lived...I have full bars with AT&T at my house. I love their text messages letting me know if there is a new tower or if one is down.

I don't have to argue every charge w/ them like I did Verizon. Verizon was sooo bad they make AT&T look good.

And my phone has the cute apple logo. ;)

Couldn't make calls from my house with my BB on Verizon. Have yet to lose a call with my iPhone and AT&T. Overall, yes, AT&T's network *is* sub-par and I liked the quality of Verizon's service the best. But it was extremely frustrating not to be able to use my phone in the house.

Let's see, your 4 gripes:

1. Tether: iPhone supports it, AT&T doesn't FAIL
2. Google Voice: all accounts are AT&T forced this issue FAIL
3. Make phone calls: are you serious? FAIL
put us AT&T: well, you got me there.

Sounds like your gripe is with AT&T, not the iPhone.

The biggest reason I like the iPhone better is the apps. There's roughly 2,000 apps available for BB, over 50,000 for iPhone. Most any developer will tell you the iPhone platform is superior to any other mobile platform. And, for me anyway, there's far more useful stuff for the iPhone.

Some:
decibel: SPL meter -incredibly accurate and invaluable (I run sound at my church)
remote: run itunes remotely - very useful for church and home
guitar toolkit: also play guitar at my church, very useful
omni focus: mac/iphone only
TouchTerm: there's likely ssh clients for BB now, but there wasn't anything like this when I had one
