Seemed like Hybles did a little “damage control” in the next session, tempering a little bit of what Russaria had to say. I imagine a lot of people involved in aid and social justice issues in Africa didn’t agree with the crux of his argument. I thought it was one of the most rational, common sense approaches I have heard, and he should be invited to speak to congress!
Hybels is strong in so many wonderful areas, but he is not tapped very well into the realities of unintended consequences of well intended policies. I am encouraged that Rugasira could speak truth at this summit, even if Hybels doesn’t recognize this part of the truth. I’m reminded that none of us can, in this life.
