Free Tickets to Innovate 09
My friends at Granger Community Church handed me five FREE registrations to Innovate 09 which will be on September 24-25.
Only problem is that I’m not feeling very innovative this morning. Because of that, I can’t figure out how I want to give away these FREE registrations.
With that in mind, you get to create your own contest and submit your entry. For example…
- Best pencil sketch of your image of Granger, Indiana may get a FREE registration.
- Best song about Tim Stevens may get a FREE registration.
- Best comment begging for one of these tickets may get a FREE registration.
- Best video of you trying to explain innovation to a random person at your local Wal-Mart may get a FREE registration.
- Best demonstration of why you should be the “People’s Choice” main speaker at Innovate 09 may get a FREE registration.
Really…the possibilities are endless. Submit your entry in whatever format you feel is appropriate. You only have 48 hours. I’m picking the winning entries on Friday.

Well I might be the first West Coaster to comment I hope, That deserves some major points! Once in A lifetime event for me.
I am the guy across town at Capstone Church. I am the one that keeps buggin you and am very surprized each time you respond on fb. Thanks for that.
I would love at least one ticket…that way the trip won’t kill our budget. I’ve been wanting to go for years, but either never had the $ or time. I still don’t but know this kind of deal is what we (I) need to get some freshness to what we are about.
As for your contest – I could write a “woe is me essay.” But that seems a bit trivial, dramatic and needy. All of which I am, however I will not go that route.
I could shoot a video with my camera – but I can’t find the right cable at the moment.
I could wow the crowds as the “people’ choice” with my empassioned story of what God has done in my life and the life of Capstone Church in the past year, but I’m waiting (with anticipation) for Andy Stanley to ask me to be his guest at Catalyst because he knows of his inspiration in that process.
I could try to bribe you by offering you a teaching pastor role at our church that would come with an all expense paid travel budget from across town, that would benefit us way more than you.
I could offer my services as an editor for your next book, but even spell check on word, tells me to take five, while it catches all my errors.
If you can imagine it (don’t try too hard) – I pretenting at this very moment that I am sketching Granger, although I’ve never stepped foot in Indiana – but I do have friends that recently lived in Marion – wherever that is.
My final proposal includes being your personal body-guard for the event. I must tell you on the front end – I am not that big or that intimidating. Oh well.
Anyway – I was actually doing my travel arrangements this morning and saw your post for this. I’d love to be the recipient of your free ticket.

Changed jobs. Moved to Iowa. Worked at great church. House didn’t sell. Moved to rental. Moved to other rental. House still didn’t sell. Supporting two households. Child diagnosed with chronic illness. House still didn’t sell. Other child diagnosed with learning disability. House not sold. Diagnosed with chronic illness myself. House unsellable. Left job at great church. Moved back to Illinois…thus no money for Innovate this year, yet hopeful about the future God has planned!
I fancy myself a very innovative interpretive dancer. Arthur and I have worked up a very moving interpretive dance to the song “Butterfly Kisses” involving black lights, a unitard, wax lips, and some fairy wings. I’m feel confident that we are innovative enough to come up with a new, emotionally rivotting, interpretive movement to illustrate why it is important to give us a couple of free tickets to innovate 09; however, unless you really want to see me in a unitard I would suggest you just give us the tickets.
I taught you the hand hug for self preservation at catalyst. That is an innovative practice for those of us who cringe at the thought of full body contact with people we do not know that well.
I received a scholarship to a conference in October (Catalyst), a free registration to a conference in November (Dirt) and a vacation in December (Disney). Having that free registration to Innovate would make a trip a month for the last four months of the year! What an accomplishment!
Besides, it would give me a chance to visit my bestie who works at the Connection Cafe on a “business” trip! C’mon, help a girl out!

I have a DRIVE to IMPART the timeless STORY of Jesus to those who don’t know him. If I am able to UNLEASH my creativity, our church would have an EXPONENTIAL impact in the community. I need to get UNPLUGGED from the rat race so I can RETHINK my creative strategy and you can help. I’ve been to conferences before, in fact I have been to the LEADERSHIP SUMMIT more than THREE times, but I believe INNOVATE would be the CATALYST to reach our community. Sure, there is another CREATIVE CHURCH CONFERENCE I could attend, but I don’t want to travel to THE STICKS to make it a reality. So as your deciding who to select, may these words ECHO in your head. And if I win, I will make a toast…with ORANGE juice!

A few weeks back I posted a scripture verse on twitter and one of my friends messaged me later that day and told me how meaningful the verse was for him. I immediately realized that if this verse reached all of my followers and was encouraging for one of them, imagine if the twittersphere began to buzz with people sharing scriptures that were powerful in their lives.
After discussing this with some friends we were reminded of the #followfriday movement on twitter. It began with just a few and is now one of the best way to find new connections.
