[...] How Do You Raise the Value of Volunteering :: Tony Morgan A great post on what to do and what not to do when looking for volunteers. Do you feel like you are asking and no one is stepping up? Or do you need some ideas on how to recruit better? Take a look at how one Church has nearly 42% of its total attendance is involved in doing rather than just sitting.
I'm curious about how the volunteer numbers shake out at Avalon. Which Avalon ministries have the most volunteers on their roster? Also, do you know of any churches knocking it out in the area of volunteers that have an average weekly attendance of 3500-4000? When churches report volunteer numbers, do they include people involved in one-time serving opportunities or only volunteers that are serving on a regular basis (weekly, monthly or quarterly)?

Thanks for being availible to pass on your findings and insights from other Churches Tony. One of the biggest things that stood out to me in this particular post was not to use the stage as a platform to get volunteers. That is something we struggle with in our Church, thinking the only way to get help is to say pretty please from the stage. I plan on getting this series of posts to our leadership and hopefully we can get somthing in motion to be more intentional in gettig volunteers.thanks again, can't wait to share this with the staff of the Church I attend.

Great post Tony. Very encouraging. I'm going to try and implement this process in student ministry.

Tony, fabulous post.
I am a changed person, fullfilled worship pastor becuase one day I decided to volunteer at a church that had an amazing volunteer process. I am eternally grateful for that.
Thank you for sharing these steps they are helpful and worth considering, I'm looking forward to the other posts on volunteering as well.
