What are your spiritual gifts?

Here’s a free spiritual gifts assessment we use for everyone we hire at West Ridge. This is one of several profiles we use to make sure we are hiring the right person for the right role.

I just took the test again today. Here are my top five gifts according to this assessment:

  1. Apostle
  2. Leadership
  3. Administration
  4. Discernment
  5. Giving

Probably won’t surprise you to learn that “mercy” was near the bottom of the list right above speaking in tongues. (Sorry my charismatic friends.)

How has God wired you? Just curious to know the profile of the folks that are a part of this conversation.

I agreed with discernment and shepherd immediately, but the others surprised me. #2 could explain why people react toward me like they do sometimes. Very cool!

We just discussed our spiritual gifts assessment results tonight with a small group of our volunteers. Great conversations.

Mine are leadership, administration and apparently word of wisdom, but up until recently #3 was always teaching.

    Shepherd
    Teaching
    Giving
    Helps
    Discernment

I also tanked the mercy – right down there with tongues and casting out demons.

Certainly crafted from a Pentecostal/Charismatic theological approach. We use this one http://www.churchgrowth.org/cgi-cg/gifts.cgi?intro=1 that might be a bit more theologically neutral.

    Tony,

I’m glad to hear that you use the Gifted2Serve Spiritual Gifts Inventory at West Ridge. I am the author, also an architect, and working on church-planter in Towson, Maryland.

If there’s anything I can do to make the experience better, let me know! When I get some funding, we plan on revamping the BuildingChurch.net web site with better technology, feedback system, etc.

Any web-designer folks out there that would like to help us, feel free to let me know!

This is the way the apostles run
Peter, Andrew, James and … Delton?
Not exactly the gift i expected to see
Paul? Yes. Peter? Yes. But me? Really?

Leadership is a gift i recognized early
i noticed that it kept creeping in naturally
whatever the situation, i tended to lead
not usually cause i wanted to, but when i sensed the need

“You can’t out-give God” i’m quite fond of saying
But you CAN out-give your checkbook if you give without praying
Giving may comes easily, and i love to provide support
but my friends remind me to be cautious for “when helping hurts”

i tend not to worry and i rarely fret
about things of this world cause faith is the opposite
i may not walk on water or throw mountains to the sea
but i truly believe that my God can use even me

knowledge and teaching seem to go hand-in-hand
i tend to have the right word from God for my friends
i take truth from the scriptures and process it just so
that i’m able to share that in a way that hits home

This is the second time I’ve seen this posted this week!

    Mine came up:
    Shepherd
    Knowledge
    Teaching
    Giving
    Leadership

I think personality type is a very interesting ingredient as well. Lots of tests online. Last one I did was an FB app … http://apps.facebook.com/my-type/
I came up ENTJ for whatever it’s worth…

I was interested about Hal’s observation about a bias. I’ll have to check out the link he posted as well.

Now – what to do with all this info?!
