iPhone Wins. Android Places Second.

With the update of the mobile version of my blog a few weeks ago, I implemented some new features to better track traffic from mobile devices using Google Analytics. It’s been fascinating. Here’s a chart showing you what types of mobile devices people are using to access my site:

Here are a few quick observations:

  • The iDevices (iPhone, iPod, iPad) are obviously cornering the market.
  • Android seems to be gaining steam.
  • Windows Mobile devices are non-existent.

Microsoft owned desktops for so many years, but it’s amazing to see how little traction they have in the mobile market right now. Wonder if that will change…

Windows Mobile is not going to gain any traction. Even with OS lockdown, they have come in fourth place in the mobile marketplace. And if Palm’s WebOS can somehow survive, it’ll move to fifth.

Are the iDevices unique users? I would have assumed that Android would have a bigger share, even now.

Does this mean that iDevices are cornering the market overall or does it mean that the people that read this blog are simply more likely to use Apple products?

It’d be interesting to see where ur non mobile traffic comes from.

sorry about the double post. I comment using the mobile theme but got a message saying the comment couldn’t be published. Switched to regular theme view and there my comment(s) was.

iPhone’s have a pretty substantial advantage over others, having been the only device of it’s kind on the market for such a long time. Apple and AT&T jumped ahead early, gobbling up a large slice of the pie fast!

I think the results posted are probably a pretty good represtation of what the actual “iDevice-like” market looks … especially in ministry circles!
