10 Things about Ohio that I Miss

It’s good to be back in Ohio for a couple of days. I was born here. I was raised here. Hard to believe I’ve now been gone almost longer than I was here.

Aside from my family, there are several things about my birth state that bring back happy memories. I thought I’d use this “Fun Friday” post to share:

10 Things about Ohio that I Miss

  1. Cheering for the Kardiac Kids
  2. Playing pickup basketball games at Fountain Park in Piqua
  3. Pisanello’s Pizza in Bowling Green
  4. Surviving the Great Blizzard of 1978 (probably why I hate snow to this day)
  5. Buckeye trees
  6. Listening to Joe Nuxhall and Marty Brennaman call games on the radio for the Big Red Machine
  7. Roaming the campus of Bowling Green State University
  8. Sledding on my grandparent’s property in Peninsula
  9. Marching band competitions with the “Pride of Piqua
  10. The beach on Lake Erie at Maumee Bay State Park

Lots of good memories. Wish you could have been there.

    3. Cassano’s Pizza
    4. Blue Jacket production in an outside amphitheater in Xenia.

Pisanello’s is in Mt. Pleasant, MI also. I think it originated there. I miss it sooooo much too.

Tony, love reading your thoughts on ministry, life, etc. Don’t necessarily agree with your thoughts on the iPhone and AT&T but I read on. Today when you posted about Bowling Green, my eyes perked up. It’s my favorite small town. Grew up around there, went there to college and it has some of my favorite restaurants. Have you ever tried Call of the Canyon? It is awesome. Well, it’s nice to hear of someone else that loves Ohio!!

From somebody that currently lives and works in Warren, Ohio, I can identify with almost half of your list. The others, I can imagine. The North Coast is awesome in its own special way.

    Tony,

Don’t hate me, but I’m born and raised in Michigan (still live here). Now with that being said, I do have family in Ohio and enjoy visiting your native land. I love, love me some Toledo Mud Hens’ baseball. While I love the Detroit Tigers, I’ve always been a closet Reds fan. My favorite aunt and uncle live in the ‘Nati.

My kids, of course, require a trip to Cedar Point every year. Years ago, I also had a chance to spend a little time in southeast Ohio in the little college town which is escaping me …. anyway, I liked it a lot. Ohio is a great state, just not as great as Michigan (I went to MSU, btw).

Gosh, my Spartans took it on the chin yesterday. Michigan, too. Looks like the Bucks are the team to beat (again).

Oh, I guess there’s always Hope. Take a quick read of my blog, if you will. I have a few words about Hope today.

    Happy Sunday, y’all!
