Part of the back story of the release of new eBooks in “The Leisure Suit Series” is that Emily and I decided to forgo any profit from the project. Instead, Church Community Builder, the sponsor for this series, has made a sizable contribution to Engage Burkina.
Burkina Faso, located in west Africa, is one of the poorest and most illiterate countries in the world. Engage Burkina has three primary initiatives right now in the areas of water, education, and churches. As needs arise, the non-profit also responds to people who have medical, nutrition, or other needs related to the poverty and living conditions. By reading and sharing the eBooks in this series, you’re also supporting these initiatives.
This week I’ve decided to do something a little different around here. We’re beginning to make decisions on what villages will get water in the coming year. The challenge, of course, is that we’re also deciding what villages will not get water. Our community can do something about that.
For as little as $1,750, we can provide a hand-dug well to a village in Burkina. Funds are used for the digging, creating a concrete sleeve on the inside of the well and providing a cap to prevent contamination from wandering wild life. Hand-dug wells are used frequently in the tribal villages where we work because they are not accessible from main roads for larger drilling equipment and the maintenance required for a drilled well.
Unfortunately, Burkina Faso doesn’t get a lot of press. And, because of that, they don’t get a lot of help. The needs here, both physical and spiritual, are extreme. In the coming days, I’ll share how providing water is directly connected to our church planting efforts in the country. I’ve seen it first hand — water is life for these villages.
Are you willing to make a small sacrifice to make a big impact? Consider making a donation this week to Engage Burkina on behalf of the TonyMorganLive.com community. Or, if you prefer, visit the Engage Burkina store where you can sponsor other projects in the villages where we are doing ministry.
Similar to our church planting efforts, West Ridge Church partners with multiple churches to engage ministry in Burkina Faso. If your church or organization is interested in joining forces so that we can broaden our ministry efforts in this African country, we’d love to share more of the vision with you. Email me and we’ll set up a time to talk.
