Volunteer Strategy Development
I don’t want to burst your bubble, but you’ll never have enough money to hire enough staff to accomplish your ministry vision. It’s just not going to happen. Because of that, building teams and engaging volunteers has to be a priority for every ministry.
Here’s a quick self-assessment. I know of several churches ranging from hundreds to thousands who have as many as 50 to 60 percent of their adults engaged in volunteer ministry. How is your church doing? What if you could significantly increase the number of people serving in ministry?
For those churches who are willing to engage this process, I will work with your team to:
- Train staff and volunteer leaders on a new approach to engaging people in volunteer roles
- Identify volunteer connections champions in each ministry area
- Clarify the span of care for both staff and volunteer leaders
- Eliminate competing messages from the church that create barriers and confusion for people who want to serve
- Streamline the connection process both online and through the guest environment to facilitate next steps
- Simplify the steps for volunteer connections after someone communicates an interest in serving
- Leverage various connection points to encourage new people to serve
- Develop a focused action plan with measurable goals and responsibilities
This isn’t a initiative that every church will want to embrace. You’ll have to be willing to give up old thinking and practices and commit yourselves to a new mindset with new disciplines. Are you willing to do that?
This whole process is based on the principles that Tim Stevens and I wrote about in Simply Strategic Volunteers. Contact me if you’d like to learn more about this opportunity for your church.
