If you wanted to create momentum towards your church’s vision this fall, what one thing would you emphasize?
We find a lot of churches know fall is a good time to build momentum, and they even start planning in the summer to leverage the back-to-school, back-to-real-life-routines season.
But we’ve also noticed this: A lot of churches launch a lot of things in the fall.
- Wednesday night classes.
- Small groups come back after summer break.
- Back-to-school events for students.
- Additional service times to make room for growth.
- Fall sports leagues.
- New message series.
- Ministry to local teachers.
- Outreach events.
You get the idea.We hit people with way too many messages, and they all end up diluted.
It’s not that you need to cut everything, but you do need to prioritize the messages that are shared and the energy and resources you put behind the initiatives.
If you’re planning now for fall momentum, start with the vision. If you could leverage some major momentum in the direction of your vision this fall, where would the emphasis go?
How could you align all your different ministries to participate and contribute towards the goal?
What might need to get cut?
What might need to get started?
With some creativity and a ruthlessly selective communications plan, you could see vision-driven momentum you’ve never experienced before.
